INT. SUPERMARKET STOCKROOM – DAY
VOVA wanders through the stockroom, curious to see how the supermarket works behind the scenes.
MR. MANAGER suddenly charges toward him, waving a SHOVEL.
MR. MANAGER
Catch it!
Vova ducks out of the way.
MR. MANAGER (CONT'D)
The mouse! Catch the mouse!
A MOUSE darts between Vova’s legs.
Mr. Manager races after it, still brandishing the shovel.
MR. MANAGER (CONT'D)
Don’t let that monster onto the sales floor!
At the doorway leading into the store stands MS. PARROT, holding a RED BROOM.
The CLEANER rushes over and grabs for it.
CLEANER
There’s my broom!
The ACCOUNTANT runs into the stockroom and starts jumping up and down.
Startled, the Mouse scurries into a corner.
MR. MANAGER
Surround it!
He crouches and whispers to the Mouse.
MR. MANAGER (CONT'D)
Chick-chick-chick...
The Accountant pulls a handful of seeds from his pocket and sprinkles them across the floor.
CLEANER
And guess who’ll have to clean that up later.
He holds out a MOUSETRAP toward the Mouse.
CLEANER (CONT'D)
Come here. Come on...
(softly)
Kitty-kitty-kitty!
MR. MANAGER
What do you mean, “kitty-kitty”?! You’ll scare it away!
He tries his own approach.
MR. MANAGER (CONT'D)
Coo-coo-coo... Chick-chick-chick... Coochie-coochie-coo!
The Cleaner suddenly pulls a PILLOW from under his arm —
and THROWS it at the Mouse.
WHUMP!
ACCOUNTANT
Got it!
The Cleaner proudly points at the pillow.
CLEANER
Now do you understand why I bring a pillow to work?
(beat)
Everyone thinks I bring it here to sleep!
He struts proudly between Mr. Manager and the Accountant.
Mr. Manager solemnly shakes his hand.
MR. MANAGER
Well done. Now I finally understand what you do around here.
He points toward the pillow in the corner.
MR. MANAGER (CONT'D)
But not a word about this to anyone!
Vova watches them, fascinated.
VOVA
Another mystery solved!
He looks toward the pillow.
VOVA (CONT'D)
Now I know where all the mice in supermarkets disappear to.
