Synopsis

Relationships between parents and their ten-year-old kids are never easy—especially when the kids spend their entire summer vacation playing games on their phones.

Playing outside isn’t much better. Every time their ball accidentally flies over the neighbor’s fence, it triggers another loud neighborhood scandal.

After yet another argument with their parents, the kids decide they’ve had enough. They head into the forest in search of a legendary treasure that no one has managed to dig up for two hundred years.

There is just one problem.

According to the same legend, the forest is still haunted by the missing Baron—the mysterious owner of the treasure.

The parents try to stop the kids, convinced they’ll get lost. But when the children refuse to give up, the parents secretly follow them into the forest, keeping watch from a distance.

They aren’t the only ones following the treasure trail. Their greedy neighbors, the Penky family, join the hunt as well, determined to find the fortune first and keep it for themselves.

Desperate for help, the parents call in Uncle Mykhailo, a local scientist and rescuer.

Unfortunately, the rescuer promptly gets lost in the forest himself.

While the kids make their way through the woods surprisingly easily, their parents are left battling the greedy Penkys. Before long, the parents begin to miss their children and decide it might finally be time to make peace with them.

But the closer everyone gets to the treasure, the harder it becomes to think about peace.

Because everyone wants a share.

Preferably a bigger share than everyone else.

When parents and children accidentally meet in the forest’s main clearing, they end up in their biggest argument yet—over how to divide a treasure they haven’t even dug up.

But the clearing is hiding an even bigger secret.

The missing Baron appears.

The parents run away first—and only afterward remember that they have left their poor children behind.

They rush back, and suddenly the treasure doesn’t seem quite so important. Parents and children finally join forces against the Baron and defeat him.

It turns out defeating a terrifying two-hundred-year-old Baron isn’t all that difficult when everyone stops fighting and works together.

Especially when the “evil Baron” turns out to be none other than Uncle Mykhailo—the lost rescuer wandering around the forest.

No one manages to dig up the gold this time either.

But both parents and children return home with something more valuable: friendship and a better understanding of one another.

Even the greedy Penkys become a little nicer.

At least for a while.
