Synopsis

The restless people of Yablunivka just can’t stop searching for treasure in the nearby forest—and the animals who live there have had enough.

Worst of all are the nighttime visits from the greedy Penko family. With treasure hunters constantly stomping through the woods after dark, the animals can barely get any sleep.

Their life has become a living hell.

So they decide to leave—and go in search of paradise.

Everyone knows paradise is somewhere in the sky. All they have to do is find the place where the Earth meets the heavens. Surely it must be somewhere just beyond the neighboring forest.

They walk and walk.

No sky.

They walk even farther.

Still no paradise.

Finally, the animals realize they need to ask someone who actually knows how the world works: the Three Elephants who hold up the Earth.

Their search takes them all the way to Africa, where a local elephant suggests they ask an Indian elephant instead. From there, the animals travel on, eventually climbing into the Himalayas in hopes of spotting at least a mammoth or two.

What they don’t know is that someone has been following them the entire time.

Greedy Mr. Penko.

A Yablunivka academic has promised to make Penko a professor—with an office of his very own—if he brings back an elephant. And Penko has no intention of going home empty-handed.

The journey takes everyone to Alaska and then Mexico, where Penko lands in jail while the animals end up in a zoo.

The animals dig a tunnel and escape. Soon, the zoo owner and the police are chasing them—while the police are also chasing Penko.

The hunt for the Three Elephants eventually takes the animals across the ocean and all the way back to Africa.

And that is where they run into a rather serious scientific problem.

It has now been experimentally proven that the Earth is round.

Not flat.

Which means...

there are no Three Elephants holding it up.

With nowhere else to go, the animals decide to head home. After all their travels, every road seems to lead back to the place where they started.

And when they finally return to their forest, they understand something they had to travel around the world to discover:

their own home is the best place on Earth. Their forest was paradise all along.

There is just one little problem.

While they were away, a group of African animals moved into their forest.

Now the old residents and the newcomers have to find a way to live together—and quickly. Because the humans are coming back to hunt for treasure again.

And leading them, naturally, is Penko.
